The Biggest thing that is keeping you from a great day (no it's not your morning routine)

When I start working with my clients, one of the first questions I ask them is what is your first thought when you wake up in the morning. Yes, that first thought can make or break your entire day. If you’re waking up and immediately stressed, upset, mad, not wanting to get up, you can certainly change the tune by doing a morning routine, but what if there was more to it? What if what you were doing the night before affected the way you woke up in the morning?

What you do for your night time routine is just as detrimental to your day as your morning routine is. Think about it for a second, what are you feeding your mind the last 15-30 minutes before you fall asleep, before your subconscious takes over for the next hopefully 7-8 hours?? You are deciding what will fester in that brain of yours for that large amount of time! And yes, I learned this the hard way! I know I’m not the only one guilty of looking at my phone before falling asleep. I started to think that the simple act of looking at Pinterest before bed was okay, because it wasn’t really technically social media. I was just enjoying my favorite quotes, outfit ideas, and interior design photos!

Nope!! I was SO wrong! I kept waking up thinking about things that upset me or just in a negative swirl!

I realized so much through this process, but ladies, it is SO imperative that we watch what we feed our brains. It can make or break our day, and I know how you want to show up for your children. I know how you want to show up in this world.

I believe that when we change our ways, we always will have times when we are tested or reminded of why we made the changes that we did.

Here are some of the habits I put in place or back in place for that matter. Sometimes I do all of them, sometimes I do some of them, but 1, 3, and 5 are a must in my book.

  1. Turn your phone on airplane mode. This one needs to be done for a number or reasons. One, if you are like me and you use your phone as your alarm, you have GOT to turn it on airplane mode especially avoid EMFs that are given off while you are sleeping (near your head for that matter!) Also, then you aren’t tempted to check it. You won’t receive any texts that could upset you or even get your brain going on something you don’t need to give effort to as this time. And most of all you won’t be tempted to go on any apps, especially social media.

  2. Plan your day out. I love doing this. I always right down at least 3 things I need to get done the next day, and then anything that I don’t want to forget to do the following day. And if there is something I want to work on the next day for my business, this will keep my brain subconsciously thinking about it all night long, not in a bad way, but priming myself to give it my all.

  3. Write down at least 5 things you are grateful for that happened today. This keeps us focused on what matters most. It reminds us that even if we feel like we are struggling there is always something to be grateful for. It keeps our brain focused on the amazing parts of our life, which in turn opens the door for even more!

  4. Write down anything you received that day or anything you gave that day. This reminds us of the constant flow of life. I have a hard time receiving and this exercise has helped me see the natural flow of the world. It reminds us that there is always enough to go around. We live in an abundant world!

  5. Pray. Need I say more?? Connection to a higher source will always put our perception of our life into context. We are guided in every capacity. The more you connect, the more guided you will be in your life.

  6. Read something positive. Again, we are staying with positive vibes, something motivating or inspiring to keep your brain in a high vibe state while your subconscious feed your mind all night long. I usually fall asleep reading a book, or I skip this and fall asleep after I pray.

Try some of these with your children. If this can affect us as adults imagine what it can do for our children. No matter where you are at in your life, no matter what is going on, these habits will help you focus on what matters most, and remove the noise of the world that we are all dealing with.

Sending so much love your way. And please if any of this helps, I would be so grateful to hear or for you to share this post with someone you love!
