Smoothie Recipe without Protein Powder
Smoothie recipe without protein powder

I’ve been learning lately that I really don’t require as much protein as I thought I did. I used to have a ton of protein shakes, but lately I have cut back. I have been on an inside out healing journey for quite some time, and this smoothie has been a staple. While I don’t have it everyday, on the days that I do have it, I notice how full and nourished I feel.

Smoothie recipe

I don't usually measure so this are quesstimates!

1 small banana or a half of a large banana

1 date (these are the ones I use)--pitted

handful of spinach

1/4 cup of frozen blueberries

1 TB of peanut butter or almond butter

1 tsp of spirulina (this is strong so if you haven't ever had it before start with a 1/4 tsp) this is the one that I use

1/2 tsp maca powder (great for balancing hormones!!!) This is the one I use

About a cup or more of almond milk (depending on the texture you like)

1 scoop of barley powder (great for the liver etc) This is the one that I use

Blend in a blender and enjoy!!!

Here is why I use each supplement:

  • dates-this adds a sweet taste to the shake so I don’t have to use any other sweetener besides the banana. Dates may lower cholesterol, aid in bone health, prevent and relieve constipation, and lower triglycerides to name a few benefits.

  • spirulina-this is an antioxidant and has anti-inflammatory properties. It may reduce blood pressure, may aid blood sugar contraol, and have anti-cancer properties. It may also improve blood lipids, and suppress oxidation.

  • maca powder-may aid in balancing women hormones, enhancing energy and mood, and supports the body’s natural liver detoxification.

  • barley powder-may reduce hunger, improves digestion, lower cholesterol, reduce heart risk disease, improves skin health, and supports immune system.

ps These are the straws I used :)

Enjoy!!! While, I certainly don’t have this everyday I make it a couple of times a week :)

Sending so much LOVE!!!
